first in an occasional series. i've been watching a few vod's of the pros and am trying to get back into playing this. i'm on iccup (sn is notjaedong) and am getting pwned left right and centre. it's all a learning experience though, so i don't really care too much. am playing zerg, generally what happens is:
- if i'm playing vs. zerg, i'll generally get outmicroed and outmacroed
- if i'm playing against terran they'll wall themselves in to prevent an early rush so i can't get a decent scout
- if i'm playing protoss i can usually get a decent early rush in with my standard 9-pool but will generally get owned by corsairs because my macro is too slow to get air defence up
- if i cheese with an early pool it's basically gg
at some point i'll try to link to a replay when i get one that isn't horribly embarrassing

I played a buncha Starcraft (SP, MP, Smash Bros mod) back in 1998-2000ish.... and most of that just went over my head.
What the hell is a 9-pool? Why do you need to "get a decent scout" against terrans? Macros?... you have automated base building tools? ....
CHEESE WITH AN EARLY POOL? :::head explodes:::
I'm playing through Warcraft III SP lately, which I got back last June with my new PC, but since I got Steam in July, my non-Steam gaming has suffered for nearly a year, so... took me awhile to get back to playing it. I played 4 MP matches back in June '08 and got owned 3 out of 4 times. Was... not fun. Once I've beaten the entire SP (on hard... which I figure will help me prepare for human opponents more than "normal" would)... maybe then I'll go back into MP funs.
SC's 3 races was bad enough to learn, WC3's 4 races is... befuddling when you haven't learned what all the building names MEAN for the different races (i.e. which is the lumberyardy thing, which is the barracks, etc. etc.).
