http://us.akinator.com/

it's old and you may have seen it before, but it's doing the rounds of some boards so thought i'd post it up in case you haven't. basically it'll ask you yes/no/maybe type questions and try to work out who you're thinking of. it's actually quite hard to beat, here's some examples:

Wade - yes, in 40
Tom - yes, in 28
Stamper - no, but was on its post-fail shortlist
Strawberry Clock - yes, in 30
Luis - no, but thought he might have been Anonymous, and later trollface, was on post-fail shortlist
Tricky Clown - yes, in 20
Bedn - complete fail

have a go and see if you can stump it!

Current Score: 2.25 / 5.00 (- 0.10)

So that's what I just did by voting zero on something that's passed with little over 200 votes.

I've got a decent level of voting power, but it's not the biggest in the world (at the last update I'm down at about #110 or something).

And that's the amount of movement that was achieved AFTER something has passed and ergo has more votes on it, making it harder to shift.

So why the fuck do people not want to vote to blam all these shitty identical dressup games that come in seemingly a dozen a day? You might lose a protection point? Boo fucking hoo. It really wouldn't take many people at all to blam this shit, and if you all vote zero you wouldn't lose anything at all. Because it'd actually get blammed. If something's passing with 2.5, and I can move it to 2.4 with one vote, it takes a very small number of people to actually kill the crap.

ps - apologies to MonkeyBusiness whose flash I voted 0 on to demonstrate. I'll chuck a few fives your way to counteract that

i am watching a live speed run from the good people at speeddemosarchive (check their site) during one of their marathons. they are playing 1080 snowboarding for the n64.

the game looks horrible.

i will tell you why it does - because they are trying to just make more of what seems to be a better technology than what it is, and it doesn't work.

graphics never make a game. they only enhance a good game, or, if done really badly, make a game look so bad it's terrible.

a lot can be translated to flash in a similar manner i guess, but the point is, the most beautiful game i've seen is metroid prime, and that was released nearly 10 years ago. round about then (and bear in mind that the cube at the time was nowhere near the most powerful console in terms of gpu ability), you had enough technology to make the game look perfectly fine. how about nowadays people actually make games that are worth playing rather than looking pretty? my main gaming platform nowadays is the iphone, and for a reason.

if they actually released pico 2. everyone would be "yeah, right, of course tom, very good"

failing that, ribbagrounds 11th year anniversary special. was it that long ago? i think it was.
